Frequently asked questions:

Are these patties gluten-free?

They are if you use gluten-free breadcrumbs!

Can they be fried?

Yes! Coat the bottom of a medium skillet with olive oil and place it over medium heat. When the oil is hot, arrange the patties in the skillet, cooking as many as you can fit without crowding. Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, until golden and crisp.

Can I substitute chickpeas with another legume for these patties?

Absolutely, white beans work well as a substitute for chickpeas, providing a similar texture.

Is it necessary to fry the onions, or can I add them raw to the blender?

Frying the onions adds a caramelized depth, but if you don’t mind the stronger onion flavor, you can add them raw to the blender.

Storage:

Store leftover burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

Reheating:

Reheat in the oven at 180°C for 10-12 minutes or until heated through.

I think this is my new favorite vegan pattie. I love the flavors and the combination of the chipotle paste, coriander, paprika, and parsley into the mix. I did create my own gravy to combine with this recipe. A healthier option indeed for burger lovers like me 🙂

I made these patties and served on top of a salad. There is a lot of flavor going on, and I agree with frying the onion for it’s flavor. I will be making it again.
